The Client
Beautylink Global is a UAE-based online beauty retailer serving customers across the United Arab Emirates with a curated range of premium beauty and personal care products. Their catalogue spans seven major categories: Skin Care, Hair Care, Make Up, Fragrance, Nail Care, Personal Care, and Baby Care, with dozens of subcategories covering everything from serums and sunscreens to hair dyes, nail strengtheners, and baby oils.
Operating in the UAE market, Beautylink positioned itself around authenticity, quality, and accessibility. Their promise to customers is straightforward: honest products, reliable service, and a shopping experience that makes beauty feel effortless. With free delivery on orders above 100 AED and a 10% welcome discount for new customers, the business was built to convert browsers into buyers and buyers into loyal repeat customers.
The Problem
Beautylink Global came to QLEVR ready to launch their online store from scratch. They had the supplier relationships, the product range, and a clear sense of their market. What they did not yet have was a digital retail presence capable of competing in the UAE beauty space, one of the most competitive online retail markets in the Middle East.
No existing store. The business was starting from zero. There was no website, no product catalogue online, no payment infrastructure, and no way for UAE customers to browse or buy. Everything needed to be built.
An exceptionally broad product catalogue requiring careful architecture. Seven parent categories with dozens of subcategories and hundreds of individual products is not a small store. Without a well-thought-out navigation structure and category hierarchy, customers would get lost, and the store would feel overwhelming rather than inviting. Getting this architecture right was critical to both the shopping experience and search engine visibility.
A market that demands trust signals upfront. UAE beauty shoppers are sophisticated and have access to global alternatives. A new brand entering this market needs to communicate credibility and quality immediately, through design, through promotions, and through the reliability of the checkout and payment experience.
The need to balance breadth with discoverability. With hundreds of products across multiple categories, ensuring that best sellers surfaced immediately, that promotional deals were impossible to miss, and that the store guided visitors toward purchase rather than overwhelming them, required deliberate conversion design, not just a product listing page.
What We Did
Discovery and Store Architecture
We began by mapping the full product catalogue and designing the category and subcategory structure before touching the store design. This was one of the most important decisions in the project. For a store of this breadth, the navigation architecture determines whether customers find what they came for or leave in frustration.
We structured the store into seven clean parent categories, each with its own set of targeted subcategories, giving shoppers a clear path from landing to product whether they arrived looking for a specific item or just browsing. The Skin Care category alone covers seven subcategories including cleansers, exfoliators, face masks, moisturizers, serums, sunscreens, and toners. Hair Care covers six. Each subcategory was designed to be shoppable as a standalone destination, important for SEO as well as user experience.
Platform and Theme Selection
We built the store on WordPress with WooCommerce, the right platform for a large, independently managed beauty catalogue. WooCommerce gave Beautylink the flexibility to manage hundreds of products, run promotions, configure shipping rules, and process payments, all without ongoing developer dependency.
The theme was selected and customised to reflect the brand's positioning: clean, feminine, and modern, with warm tones and generous product imagery that puts the products first and builds desire before the customer even reaches a product page.
Design and Visual Direction
The design brief centred on making the store feel premium without feeling unapproachable. UAE beauty shoppers expect a polished experience, and the design needed to deliver that while also making the breadth of the catalogue feel curated rather than cluttered.
Key design decisions:
- Clean hero section leading with a clear brand promise and a direct path to the most popular category
- Best sellers and today's popular picks sections on the homepage, surfacing the highest-converting products immediately for first-time visitors
- Category grid giving equal visual weight to each department, making it easy to navigate by beauty need
- Hot deal and sale sections with clear percentage savings displayed on product cards, designed to trigger impulse purchases
- Welcome offer (10% off with code NEW10) presented as a pop-up on arrival to capture new customer conversion from the first visit
- Free delivery threshold (orders above 100 AED) displayed prominently in the site header to encourage basket building
- Wishlist and compare functionality so customers could save products across sessions and make informed decisions
- Video content sections for community stories and product storytelling, making the store feel like a brand, not just a shop
WooCommerce Configuration
The full WooCommerce setup included:
- Product catalogue across 7 parent categories and 30+ subcategories, with individual product pages optimised for clarity and conversion
- Sale and discount engine with percentage-off badges displayed on product cards across the store, covering promotions ranging from 24% to 57% off
- Coupon system configured for the NEW10 welcome code and promotional campaigns
- Shipping rules with free delivery threshold set at 100 AED for UAE orders
- Customer accounts with login, registration, order history, and wishlist functionality
- Multi-currency display with pricing in AED for the UAE market
- Payment gateway integration supporting card payments trusted by UAE shoppers
- Newsletter sign-up integrated for ongoing customer retention and promotional communication
Conversion Optimisation
Every element of the store was designed with conversion in mind. The welcome coupon pop-up captures new visitor intent immediately. The hot deals section on the homepage creates urgency. The free delivery threshold encourages customers to add one more item. The best sellers section reduces decision fatigue by telling new visitors what other buyers already trust. Together these elements work as a system, not as individual features.
Mobile Optimisation
Given that a significant proportion of UAE online shopping happens on mobile, the store was built and tested to perform seamlessly on smartphones. The navigation, product browsing, and checkout flow were all optimised for touch interaction and smaller screens, ensuring no revenue was lost due to a poor mobile experience.
